Terminal

from Soon by Dale Wicks

/

about

I used to ride a bus to visit an old ex-girlfriend of mine, long after the relationship was over. Waiting around in the terminal gives you plenty of time to think. Nelson played on this track, too, but I erased him...sorry, Nelson! Sometimes I fill up too much space on my own and sometimes I give musicians bad direction, and I did both this time. Russell did a better job of ignoring me when I was wrong, so his cello survived.

lyrics

Sitting here in the terminal
Waiting for the end of the line
Waiting can be very difficult
She's going out of sight
And I'm out of my mind

It's lonely out here in the terminal
People here know where the story ends
People say goodbyes that they don't mean
I wonder if they'll ever meet again

Solitude brings clarity
Clarity brings hope
I wait 'cause I've got nowhere else to go
One place is another
And everything is strange
Why does everybody have to change?

Why does everybody have to change?

Stuck inside a future flowing slowly toward the past
I know just what to say
I've said it all before
But I don't know if I can say it anymore
I don't think that I can say it anymore

I think I might stay in the terminal
And pretend that the end is the beginning
And that I didn't fail you in the simplest of ways
But I'm tangled in this twisted web we're spinning

Solitude brings clarity
Clarity brings hope
I wait 'cause I've got nowhere else to go
One place is another
And everything is strange
Why does everybody have to change?

Why does everybody have to change?
