about

I went through a break-up right after training for a marathon, and I consoled myself afterward by buying a bunch of Nintendo games. Made me take a hard look at my life of singing in bars to people who are often not that interested.

lyrics

I can hear the screaming in the silence
I can feel the distance in a touch
I remember forgetting myself in memories of youth
& never coming out
Is that what my life's about?

Morning comes & I'm just another runner
in the human race upon the course of life
One more song sung to someone who is gone
in front of people who are not listening

People I agree with don't agree with me
I can't feel their anger anymore
But people I abandon don't abandon me
& it means the world to see them at my door

Morning comes & I'm just another runner
in the human race upon the course of life
One more song sung to someone who is gone
in front of people who are not listening

Who are not listening

Maybe there's a way I can feel the things I say
And not say them to fit in the way I have again
I was thinking of a girl when I was thinking of my world
Now the girl has gone away & I'm where I am today
& then tomorrow

Morning comes & I'm just another runner
in the human race upon the course of life
One more song sung to someone who is gone
in front of people who are not listening

But it's all I know & I'll go to bed a-lone
before I'll listen to what I don't want to hear
So say goodnight & live another life
& I'll be waiting with my memories of us
